The Engine Shed provides all the track, engines, carriages, wagons and controllers.
- Brio: Wooden trains and tracks, with magnetic couplings to join locomotives, carriages and wagons together. Some of these trains are battery-powered with simple push-button controls.
- Tomy: Plastic trains and tracks, based on the “Thomas the Tank Engine” characters. All locomotives are battery-powered with simple on/off switches for the children to operate.
- Hornby: Trains, carriages and wagons operated by an electric controller. These are more fragile than the other trains, and the track needs to be set up in advance.
All our trains are checked for each session, and comply with safety regulations.
The Tomy trains (and some of the Brio trains) are powered by small batteries. These are tested and replaced regularly, and can not be removed from the trains without specialist tools.
All the Hornby controllers are electrically tested and inspected, with the trains working on a safe 12V power supply to the tracks.
